Re: It's back

I take it that she hasn't been broody and doesn't have a clutch of eggs or chickens?  roll
It is, after all, getting to that time of year again.
Crikey - a twelfth of it has just frittered away!  mad

Re: It's back

Nah, that's not Jon, that's Gene.

This is Jon, I'm sure.

You can tell, surely?
Just look at the nose.  lol

Re: It's back

So the Phantom Bantam hits the road again in a cloud of blue smoke and a certain amount of dingage?

Andreas mentioned that term for a two stroke's power and I have to say it suits it well. Doffage for 4 strokes, dingage for 2 strokes. And of course scrapage for low-slung MGs going over high kerbs.

Oh what fun the English language is to be sure!  big_smile

Try me best - honest! big_smile

Re: It's back

Jon,
The Man of Mystery is your Bantam helper?  hmm
I think he is now but a Shadow of his former self.
Did he give the ailing fowl any dingage?  tongue

Re: It's back

The enigma that is 'The international man of mystery' was to my knowledge intimately involved in the engine re build.

lol  lol  lol  lol  lol  lol  lol

Andreas

Re: It's back

I can absolutely confirm the the IMoM was involved as I held the flywheels while he 'aligned' the shafts with a large mell. He has (by his own admisiion) a City and Guilds in 'Advanced melling and twatting'. Give him your vintage Rolex or Omega and see what he can do to 'regulate' it. An artisan indeed  smile

Re: It's back

Well it now has an MOT
But is also having some gearbox issues..... sad

Re: It's back

To use a well known phrase or saying:

' they are all in one box, sort em out!'

Andreas

Re: It's back

Here's a "gear" box that may be suitable.

But it may be a bit of a drag.  lol

Re: It's back

Devonian - how could you!

That is obviously NOT a bantam box. It's a cardboard box. There is a difference I think! cool

Try me best - honest! big_smile

Re: It's back

It is not a cardboard box, 'tis a box of gear which is more assorted than the Bantam box which has issues at the moment, methinks.  wink

Re: It's back

But Dev, thats a separate gear box, the Bantam is unit construction.....

plus, given the age of some of the fashion items contained therein,  it looks more appropriate for your own beeza? Post veteran / vintage?  big_smile

Re: It's back

Thanks, FF, I quite missed the unit build of the pseudo DKW, quite a lapse. sad
I must admit that a couple of my bikes are pre-unit but the majority are unit, as is the Bantam.
My wife will not be pleased that you think her redundant garments are of a post veteran/vintage period. I shall refrain from mentioning it to her.  wink
I hasten to add that it's not her box in the picture either.  big_smile

Groan........ tongue

Re: It's back

Martin,

Are you holding that box of clothes for ransom?

Cos I think this is a definate case of thread highjacking........................

Joe

Re: It's back

Josif, no!
It's all related to gears and boxes as Mr P. Bantam has previously remarked. (see post No 10)
It definitely has nothing to do with Mr Turpin, or the tax man, so it can't be highjacking.   wink

Re: It's back

The problem has been found it appears to be due to badly tensioned balls.

Jon hmm

Re: It's back

Clearly too much stress if you have any sort of tension there     tongue

Andreas

Re: It's back

Well the Bantam Balls are now appropriately tensioned and it also has forks with working oil seals too...
I will post pics of its new guise shortly.... big_smile

Re: It's back

I bet it gave you the ride of your life!

Re: It's back

Here it is....
It now even has a saddle and a new air filter fitted since picture was taken
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k33/jonthevicar/Bantam/DSC01177.jpg
Different wheels with knobbly tyres, bigger 54 tooth back sprocket, new chain ,different front mudguard, modified back mudguard a side stand and I even painted the rack!

It needs a high level exhaust pipe, and that's next....

Re: It's back

Wow - nearly ready for its role in the Cuckoo.  cool
Does it run like clockwork?  wink
