Topic: AMC 650 building!
Ok so here are some pictures of my AMC twins for those who doubt their very existence.
The bike on the lift is going to be a Matchless 650 CS/CSR from 1961. All this bike needs in terms of bits is a speedo, modification of the tank (which is from an AMC single and then some paint on the tank.
There is also the majority of a 1962 AJS 650 CSR with matching numbers in the boxes strewn around the garage which needs more parts and work but is substantially there. The frame and tank for the AJS is stored elsewhere.
The Matchless is not going to be truly standard but I'll have a go at getting the AJS there or there abouts.
Next stage is rebuilding the Matchless motor with new crankcases as the original cases had been re-welded (and hence distorted) after the motor 'put a leg out of bed ' many moons ago. This was discovered when the motor nipped up as the central web bolts were tightened. So a NOS pair of crankcases was founD. They had been on display at a major AMC shop so yesterday I stripped off the protective lacquer and the cases were in fine nick underneath. Over to you Steve!
