Re: Monday club meetings - update.

On Sunday, I went to Birtley Golf Club and had a chat with the chairman.
I told him we were still interested in meeting there when circumstances allowed.
He showed me the arrangements for the lounge where we meet. Basically, the square tables have been spaced around the room with 4 seats at each table. The social distancing regulations means there will be room for 30 people. Arrangements have also been made for a one way ordering and collection system for the bar service. Hand sanitiser will be available.
They will be opening the clubhouse on Saturday 4th July. We agreed that we would look at Monday 13th July as potentially being the first date we hold a meeting at the clubhouse, starting at the usual time of 8:00. I’ll be in contact with the Golf Club officials to see how they are getting on with these arrangements and I’ll pass on any information as soon as I can
I know that some of you may not feel able to attend this meetings straight away, I’ll see what we can do to keep you in touch with what is happening and any alternative arrangements i.e. video meetings. If you have any questions or comments, just let me know.
I hope to see you at Birtley Golf Club in the near future.

Tongue tied, Peter?  neutral
It's all the late Zoom meetings that take it all out of you you know.
Keep taking the tablets and don't forget social distancing.  lol

Martyn, the system went a bit wonky donkey. I have asked the admin to delete the extra posts as I should be able to do so but I can't for some IT reason. I have tried turning my PC off and on, it hasn't worked so I am now lost. big_smile

Re: Monday club meetings - update.

I am writing this about the resuming of regular Section Meetings at the Birtley Golf club.

After a great deal of thought, I will be working with the Golf Officials to review the resumption of the normal Monday meetings throughout July, with the earliest possible date now being 3rd August.

I have come to this decision after reviewing section members views, talking with medical professionals and others concerned with similar organisations. I feel it still too risky to meet face to face and I do not want ANY of us to suffer (either physically or mentally) for the want of a waiting a few more weeks.

I, along with many people, am really keen to see everyone but when we do, I want everyone to be as safe as possible and also not to have to suspend meetings again due to local lockdowns etc.

During the (hopefully few) weeks until we meet again, the video calls and quizzes will continue, we will look to expand the activities run by the section and also use experiences gained during this time to improve what we can offer to members of the Sections both near and far.

I will work this through with the Golf Club and keep you all in touch with latest developments.

I know not everyone will necessarily agree with my decision but I hope you appreciate that I am doing what I feel is best for the Section and members as a whole.

Re: Monday club meetings - update.

I’d like to tell you about the re-opening of the Birtley Golf Club Lounge.

Currently the lounge is open until 10:00 p.m. They have safety procedures in place and seating for up to 28 people.

You can use the lounge to socialise as per current Govt. guidelines if you wish. The staff will be on hand to guide you through the procedures they have in place. You may well have to give them your name and contact details on arrival.

The Committee of the Golf Club will inform me if anything changes and I will pass that information on to you for you to make your personal decision on using the lounge.

I need to make it clear that this is NOT a resumption of Northumbrian Section VMCC meetings at the Birtley Golf Club. There will be no monthly events, subs gathering or business meetings etc. There is no direct connection with the VMCC in any way.

The Section Committee is in agreement that ‘normal’ meetings should not happen until we have the go ahead from the VMCC Board. I am in contact with the Chairman of the Board on a frequent basis and I’ll work with the Section Committee when the advice from VMCC HQ is updated.

We will be continuing the Virtual Monday Meetings until such time as the normal schedule resumes and may well continue after that (on a separate day) if people want it to.
